"I really appreciate all you and your guys did for me while visiting Pigeon Forge on vacation a couple of weeks ago. As you know, the van we were vacationing in is my son's wheelchair equipped conversion van, so when we lost second gear, pulling a trailer, it could have been a very big inconvenience for us. In the end, it was only a minimal diversion for me and my family, in large part, thanks to you and your staff. Phil and the guys were top notch for customer service, attention to detail, and truly seemed to care about getting the job done right. "You know, when you have to buy a transmission 400 miles from home, you're really "under the gun", because you know if a problem develops you sure aren't able to take it back easily. Fortunately for us, such a problem never arose. I don't think it's an accident that your work help up like it has. Quality is not an accident, it's a process that reflects directly on the person at the helm. Unfortunately for you, the distance between us prevents my bragging about the service I got to result in referred customers for you. Believe this; I have told the story about the broken transmission in the Smoky Mountains to a lot of people in Memphis. It usually comes up when someone remarks, "are you still driving that old Chevrolet"? "How many miles on it"? Of course when I tell them, "enough to get to the moon", they want to know if it's the original engine and transmission. On the issue of quality, let me share a quote from FedEx's Fred Smith. He was speaking to a large group of employees and basically said, "Satisfying the customer in this competitive world is not enough, we must DELIGHT them. Because although satisfied customers will probably stay loyal (emphasize probably), delighted customers multiply". Delighting customers means going above and beyond the industry norms, but the payback means the difference between survival and growth or demise. So much for rambling. I'm sure I speak for numerous customers who are also "delighted", but never took the time to say thanks. You know how it is, we're all so busy that we only tend to speak when it's something to complain about. Thanks for the great deal on a great transmission job!"

"While we were on vacation, we experienced a situation with our van that had the potential to wreck our entire week--and drain our checkbook! We drove our Honda van 10 hours from South Bend, IN, to our destination in the Smokys. We were concerned as we began to experience transmission problems the last few hours, but as we drove to the top of the mountain to our chalet rental, our transmission gave out and we knew we were in trouble. We were in trouble. We were in a strange town with 4 children and no van. We didn't know who to trust for a service estimate, and as our van had 108,000 miles on it, we didn't quite know what to do. We found our way to Chip's Transmissions and immediately realized that we were in extremely competent hands. Phil verified that our van needed a $4,000 transmission, but asked us to wait while he checked on something. He called the Honda Dealership and learned that our warranty had been extended to 109,000 miles! We were less than 1,000 miles from out-driving this warranty and wouold have never known. Phil made the arrangements to get us to a Honda dealer, as well as a free rental for the rest of our vacation. The entire situation went from tragedy to blessing, in large part because of Phil's willingness to go the extra mile for us! We were very sure that Phil was an angel sent to us. He was committed to honesty and integrity, even though he ended up making no money from us. We were so grateful for the competence and help be gave. If we lived in the area, we would refer everyone to Chip's!"

"On December 12, 2006, I was Christmas shopping in Sevierville and parked at one of the many outlets. Upon returning to my vehicle, I started the engine and placed the vehicle in reverse. As I gently accelerated to back out of the parking space, the vehicle did not respond as the transmission seemed to slip. The transmission suddenly caught and jerked into gear. I tried forward, reverse, and everything worked perfectly. However, my 2003 Ford Explorer does not have a stick to check the level, you must place the vehicle on a lift at a service station. I wanted to make sure the fluid levels was correct to prevent any future problems, so I visited several locations and asked to have the fluid level checked. One location told me they would not check the fluid, but they would hook me up for a diagnostic test for a substantial fee. I explained that the transmission was working fine, and I just wanted to check the fluid as a precaution. They still refused. The other locations were busy or told me they couldn't perform the service check on my transmission. Thinking I was going to have to drive to Knoxville or similar distance, I thought of Chip's Transmission repair shop in Sevierville. I went there and talked to Mr. Phil Sims. They had numerous vehicles being repaired, but Mr. Sims worked me into their schedule in a timely manner. They completed the check on my transmission, and did so at a very fair price. I mistakenly thought of a transmission shop as a location for repairs only. However, they perform repairs and many other functions as well. Many thanks to you Phil, for taking time out of your busy schedule to perform a small job for me. Next time I'm going to Chip's Transmissions first."

"We moved to Sevierville one year ago. One of the most difficult decisions after moving in, was finding someone to service our car. Finding someone you can trust making decisions about things you have limited knowledge about is hard. We saw an advertisement from Chip's for an oil change and decided to go ahead with the service. From the start, everyone at Chip's was courteous. The oil change and inspection went without a hitch. The inspection pointed out an oil leak, an estimate was given, but there was no pressure to have it fixed immediately. When the time was right for us, we took our car back for the oil leak repair. I appreciated the fact that we were called with a cost for the repair when the mechanic determined what parts were needed, but before significant work was started. No surprises! The work was completed as promised, and again, the staff at Chip's was courteous from start to finish. I am not looking forward to any car problems, but I do feel we can take a problem to Chip's and get a "fair deal.""

"My wife and I left Florida on vacation to Alabama and Tennessee. While on vacation I purchased another 3500 truck, because my other truck was not big enough for our camper. The new truck needed a transmission. So the dealer sent the truck to a local transmission in Gadse, Alabama. Quote "The Best Shop in Alabama." Five days later my truck was ready. As it turned out we should have called them first. They knew exactly what we were up against and had a solution in a short time. "I would refer anyone to Chip's Transmissions-mainly because of the service I received a couple years ago and the service and honesty I received more recently. A few years ago I had a transmission built by Chip's for a restored truck of mine with an electric lock-up torque. It was a year later before I even installed the transmission. I never could get the lock-up torque to work. I didn't drive the truck much so I finally got it back to you around 2 or 3 years after you built the transmission, but with very few miles on it. Chip's checked it and found that the wrong valve body had been installed. Chip's installed the correct valve body and the lock up torque worked fine. Of course I had my reciept, but there was no charge--that's standing behind your work and correcting mistakes when there made. Alot of shops I am sure would not have done anything and if they had would have charged me. Thanks."
